Class Description: Adding Skills for Adult Dogs
You are a dedicated pet owner who has completed basic dog training with your dog. As a result, your dog has a reliable set of behaviors such as sit, down, stay and a recall, when they are indoors with minimal distractions. Develop the tools to get your dog to listen and respond reliably in the real world.
This class will help you develop the skills to train your dog to listen in the community! This class will take you through a systematic and comprehensive plan to get you where you want to be; with a reliable companion who cooperates off leash, away from home and….when other things are going on in the environment around you.
Your dog will learn to sit and wait in the car, wait at the door with added distractions, come when called from a greater distance, walk on a loose leash around other dogs, leave it with high value items, stay with increased distance and duration and to move between sit, down and stand.
How this class will benefit you at home:
You’ll move from the basic commands to how to apply them in real-life situations
Your dog will learn to ignore real-life distractions and focus on you
Manners and good behavior will become second nature to you and your dog.
Dog performs sit, down, come, loose leash walking in response to cues.
Who is this class for?
Dogs of all breeds, one year old and older at the start of class. Owners who want to finish Canine Good Citizen and/or Pet Partner titles, or just want a mannerly family companion
What prerequisites does this class have?
All dogs must be current on vaccinations before the first class. Please bring your current documentation of your dog’s vaccination records to the first class.
