Dog Training Classes

Canine Life and Social Skills (C.L.A.S.S.)® - www.mydoghasclass.com

C.L.A.S.S. is an educational program that teaches the real-life skills every dog needs, while strengthening the dog-owner bond! The program is organized into three levels, offering dogs the opportunity to earn degrees that mirror those earned by humans: the B.A., the M.A., and ultimately the Ph.D. Owners are also taught basic handling and care skills.

The program is designed for dogs aged one year and older.

C.L.A.S.S. evaluations will be offered four times a year, by appointment, and at no charge to students enrolled in the course.

The C.L.A.S.S. Bachelor’s Degree

What your dog will learn:

Bachelor’s level skills include: sit and down with a stay/settle, waiting at the door and for the food bowl, coming when called, leashing manners and loose-leash walking, attention/eye contact, leave it, “trade” (giving up one valued item for another) and calmly greeting a friendly stranger.

What to Know

Pre-requisite: none
Duration: Each session is one hour; six consecutive sessions                                                                                             Cost: Six one-hour classes are $135

The C.L.A.S.S. Master’s Degree

What your dog will learn:
The M.A. level builds and expands upon earlier skills. At this level your dog will master sit and wait in the car, wait at the door with added distractions, coming when called from a greater distance, loose leash walking around other dogs, moving fluidly between sit, down and stand, accepting gentle handling of the feet and ears, leave it with higher-value items, and a stay with increased distance and duration.

B.A. course.                                                                                                     Duration: Each session is one hour; six consecutive sessions                                                                                                       Cost: Six one-hour classes are $135

The C.L.A.S.S. Doctoral Degree

What your dog will learn:
The Ph.D. level is the ultimate test of your abilities as dog and handler. Skills include loose leash walking while the handler balances an item in hand, backing up, coming when called and staying with increased distance and added distractions, accepting gentle handling from a stranger, and table manners, where the dog must remain in place while the handler and evaluator eat at a table.

Behavior Bootcamp

Petite Pals
Being small should not be an excuse for lower standards…

Small dogs are too often left untrained. They’re easy to control physically, they rarely do any real harm, and if they misbehave in public, well, we can just pick them up. But small dogs are just as trainable as dogs of any other size.

This class is for the littles: 25lbs and under. Come learn small dog training and socialization techniques.

What You & Your Dog Will Learn
Small dog handling. Small dogs must be extra tolerant of handling because they’re so darn cute. Everybody wants to pet and hold them!
Small dog socialization. Let your dog meet unfamiliar people and dogs in a safe environment and at his own pace.
Small dog training. Learn the tricks that make training a small dog easy and effective.

What To Know
Duration: 6 x 1-hour sessions
Cost: $135
